Rootead's 3rd Annual RYDDE Showcase & Fundraiser

Saturday, December 16 at 1:00PM, come support RYDDE (Rootead Youth Drum & Dance Ensemble) at this year's showcase & fundraiser!  This year, the event will be at Comstock Community Auditorium, and we have a powerful lineup of performances planned that will showcase drum rhythms and dances from the West African diaspora.

This year, our special guests will be, Ayodele, our sister dance company based in Chicago.  The event will be emceed by Dr. Kandace Lavender, and DJ Boogie will be spinning the 1s & 2s for the dance party.

We are offering several ticket prices to allow for equitable access to this event.  The options are:

$5 - Copper

$15 - Silver

$25 - Gold

$50 - Platinum

Despite the different ticket prices for entry, we welcome everyone to share equally in the experience.  This means, there will be general seating and everyone is invited to dine and dance with us after the showcase.

Event flow:

12:30PM:  Doors will open

1:00PM - 2:00PM:  RYDDE & Ayodele performances

2:00PM - 4:00PM:  Music, dancing, appetizers, & silent auction

The purpose of this event is to bring our community together to share a joyful experience where we reconnect with our roots and celebrate our youth, in addition to raising funds to send RYDDE members to the Ayodele drum and dance conference in Chicago next spring. This conference is an opportunity for RYDDE members to learn from master drummers and dancers from West Africa.

In 2023, we were able to take 20 youth from RYDDE Season 5 to the Ayodele conference for two days, and our budget (including transportation and lodging) was $15,000.
